The Tea

This is a big, fruity brew that packs a punch. It's a jam-packed party in a tea bag, thrown in honour of Yorkshire's famously potent fruity hero: rhubarb. Then we bundle in a bunch of its tangy friends to dial the flavour up to 11. It's a proper tasty rhubarb and raspberry tea.

Hibiscus, apple, rosehip, natural flavouring, liquorice, sweet blackberry leaves, raspberry juice powder, rhubarb juice powder.

The box

The box is made from cartonboard, which is made from trees – a renewable resource that can easily be replenished.

This goes in your paper and cardboard recycling.

The tea bags

75% of the tea bag material is natural-based fibres: a mix of wood pulp and either abaca (a kind of banana plant) or rayon (made from woodpulp). 25% is an oil-based plastic sealing material called polypropylene, but we plan to switch that to what we now use to seal most of our other tea bags - a renewable, plant-based, industrially compostable bioplastic called Polylactic Acid (PLA), which is made from cornstarch.

At the moment, these should go in your refuse bin.

The inner wrap

This is made from metallised polyethylene (an oil-based plastic). We'd like to change this packaging once we've changed the outer wrap on our other tea boxes (that’s a much higher overall volume of plastic, which is why we’re tackling that first).

This isn't currently recyclable, so it should go in your refuse bin.

what is Rhubarb & Raspberry tea?

Yorkshire’s famous for its rhubarb – those big, flavour-packed stalks that you can actually hear creaking as they grow. It’s got a powerfully tangy flavour that’s not like anything else, which is why we made a brew in its honour. And you’ll see plenty of raspberries thriving in Yorkshire gardens and hedgerows, too, so it’s no surprise that these two flavours go so brilliantly well together.
