If you live in a hard water area, these are the tea bags for you. This special blend of Yorkshire Tea tastes extra lovely brewed in tap water with a high mineral content.

Caffeine in tea varies, but an average cup contains 48mg (based on 200ml water and 5 minutes of brewing).

The box

Yorkshire Tea boxes are made from cartonboard, which is made from trees – a renewable resource that can easily be replenished.
This goes in your paper and cardboard recycling.

The tea bags

The bags in all our original UK Yorkshire Tea boxes are plant based. Most of the bag is made from natural fibres like wood pulp and the seal is made with PLA - an industrially compostable, plant-based plastic which is made from cornstarch.

Please pop these in your kerbside garden or food waste bin. These don’t go in your home compost heap as they need quite a bit of heat and space to break down.

The outer wrap

This is made from oil-based plastic (polypropylene) - and we’re phasing it out across our range.
This isn't currently recyclable, so if the box you buy has an outer wrap, it should go in your normal bin, or you can take it to some supermarket collection points.

What is Yorkshire Tea for Hard Water?

The tap water in hard water areas contains lots of minerals, which can make tea taste different. Our tea buyers would say soft water brings out ‘lightness’ and ‘briskness’, while hard water makes tea taste ‘darker’ and ‘thicker’. So, with a few clever tweaks, we’ve made a blend that balances out those differences – so you can enjoy a proper brew, wherever you live.
