The box
Yorkshire Tea boxes are made from cartonboard, which is made from trees – a renewable resource that can easily be replenished.
This goes in your paper and cardboard recycling.
The tea bags
Our string and tag bags are made with a PP free filter paper and sealed with a staple or knot meaning you can dispose of this via industrially compostable means.
Please pop these in your kerbside garden or food waste bin. These don’t go in your home compost heap as they need quite a bit of heat and space to break down.
The outer wrap
This is made from oil-based plastic (polypropylene) - and we’re phasing it out across our range.
This isn't currently recyclable, so if the box you buy has an outer wrap, you can take it to some supermarket collection points or it should go in your normal bin.

We’re also members of the Ethical Tea Partnership – with them we are able to partner with our suppliers and other tea companies to develop and support initiatives at community level as well as responding to major social and environmental challenges that the tea industry still faces.

What is Yorkshire tea?
It’s a unique blend of 10-20 different black teas, all layered together to create a brew that tastes consistently balanced and satisfying. We add teas from Africa for liveliness and depth, and teas from India for strength and body. Originally created for Yorkshire water, it’s now enjoyed around the world.
